Oy...So, the days before the trip where so hectic, that I couldn't even find the time to get online for farewells, sorry 'bout that! I basically finished classes, got home, packed, slept, and left at 4am.

So...where did I go?

It's an OMEN, I know it! An OMEEEEEEN! Apparently it's the last planet grouping of the year, wooh!

Ah well..The big 2-1. I'll finally be considered an "adult", although the only thing this means is that I'll finally be able to have a drink in the states with out it being illegal. Pretty much everything reserved for 21, I've been able to do here since I was 18.

I won't be doing much celebrating on the exact birthday date, since my professors gave me a birthday suprise of final exams on the 11th. Only one week left of this semester, and I reallyneed more time! GIS (Geographical Information System) class has taken too much time, the worst part is that there's no way to actually do work at home, work is done in class only, guuurgh. I'll have to lock myself in the classroom, now that most of my classes are done and finished with.

Why the coelacanth? Well, there's story to that but... >_> I need to leave for school in 3 minutes.

Nothing much planned for the week other than research, examns and work. >_o Gonna try to get some tickets to a concert for cinetica and myself, but there's nothing final yet.

On the art area...I honestly feel like I lost something...And I need to get it back. Nothing I've done after Melquiades, Pito, Bucayo and Yagrumo has felt satisfying. The most recent thing that I haven't totally hated has been this quick pen doodle of a dead "unidentified" lizard that I drew while in the zoology museum.

Not that bad looking for the short amount of time spent on it. I'll probably spend more time drawing the specimens there. I got approval from the director to go in and mess with the animals, take them out of their jars, and draw them. I figure it'll be good practice. And scientific illustration is something that I can use to combine my art and science degrees.

Thursday’s field study went alright, even if I did take a bad step and fall flat on my butt down a muddy slope. Not to mention the fact that some flying cockroach-looking bug took an interest in my flash light and kept harassing my hand. While in the previous trip our goal had been the coqui martillito, this time we were capturing coqui caobas, which are my favorite species. They have beautiful markings. Not as pretty as aposematic frogs, but hey.

This species emits a very different call from the classic “Coki-coki!” mating call. They emit a seres of loud clicks, so it’s easier to pin point them out by following the calls. Another quirk that differences them from the other species, is the size difference. While most species are the same size, in coqui caobas, the female is HUGE, and males are tiny.
We captured around 13 individuals, among them two pregnant females, making it a very good night for us. Better than last time, where we only caught around 4 martillitos.

It had been raining quite heavily so, the mountains were coated with a thick layer of mist, making it quite hard to see the road. While driving down to civilization we almost ran over/or hit:
-A huge crab (What the hell was a crab doing in the road!?)
-A tree rat
-A stray dog
–A fruit bat
So that’s like a new record for us.
I got home at 1am, so that only gave me four hours of sleep before I had to wake up and force myself to go to class. >_o Bleech!

It’s been raining so much in the last few days, that it’s starting to look like monsoon season. Yesterday was particularly nasty. I spent the day mostly indoors, but I really didn’t want to spend the evening at home. So when my buds called and invited me out I was more than happy.
Traffic was slow, the roads were wet, and we had a major scare while on the highway.

It was raining, and we were driving with caution due to the conditions....but viola! The car in front of us suddenly stopped, god knows why. We have some distance from the car, and Steven breaks, but our car won’t stop! Slippery road! At this point it’s an “Oh shit!” moment. Steven is hitting the breaks with everything he has, Victor has his hands in front of him, as if waiting for the airbag to pop up, and Im bracing myself for impact. We missed hitting the automobile by only a few inches. So there’s about half a second of relief, before a mutual feeling takes hold. The car behind us. We’re gonna get hit from behind.

Steven looks back, and so do I.. The car behind us slows down and stops a short distance away, but unfortunately the vehicle behind him doesn’t manage to do the same. Bam! The driver behind us gets hit, but he veers to the side and avoids colliding with our car. Thankfully the crash looked worst than it was, the damage was that of just a bump. So, after almost having a car crash, and calming Steven who was freaking out, onward we went!
We haven’t been driving for more than ten minutes before we encounter a huge traffic jam. After a while, we can finally see the cause. For some reason, a section of the highway is....flooded. With no way to turn back, the vehicles drove across the body of water through the section looked like it had the lowest level of water. Yeah....It turned out that the water was a bit higher than it looked. And then, that little battery sign on the dashboard flashed on. So you know, we’d almost crashed a few minutes before, so when this happened....Cue panic!

I mean, if the battery died in the middle of that mess, we were gonna be so screwed up. But, it didn’t. Thank god! The rest of the evening proceeded without any more setbacks, and we had a good time. Making fun of our reactions during the “almost-car crash” and “the flood”, was a must, during our dinner conversations. XP

Aaaaaaauuggh!
Barracuda jumped out of his bowl! I head a small thud as I was leaving my room, and when I turned back, there he was, on the ground. He left behind a tiny blood stain on the floor. I picked him up, and placed him back in his fishbowl now, but maybe he has internal bleeding or he ruptured something.

-_- Ugh....I've had him for half a year now, and he's never been a "bowl jumper." I don't know what to do. He's swimming around, and appears to be fine for now but... Eh, I don't want him do die because of this. ._.

Last Sunday I committed genocide... Sorry about that, karolluis (-5000 points). Last Wednesday I helped goldfeather hide a body (-173 points). In January I had a shoot-out with rival gang lords on the 5 near LA (-76 points). Last Saturday on a flight to Pakistan, I stole the emergency flight information card (-40 points).
